Combat Flow Chart *** UPDATED ***
There seems to be a lot of confusion still out there about the combat table and how all those ratings work. I thought a visualization could help a lot and gave it a shot. All information is derived from wowwiki. Updated using the links supplied by Arideni (see comments)
The most important (and confusing) thing to understand is, in my opinion, how crit works. As stated by blue (thanks Arideni) it is determined over all of your attacks if you hit critical or not, so a crit can miss, be parried, dodged, etc. pp.
What we have to realize here is:
If critical hits are determined in a separate roll, crit rating is directly affected by hit & expertise, because more landed hits means less avoided crits.

Whether or not a strike is a critical is determined above all other results.

I want to expand and clarify a little bit. It’s widely believed to be a single-die method in which criticals are determined before all other attacks. For example, you may have a critical strike which misses.
I want to advise against going blindly with WoW Wiki since any user can edit those articles.
