Deadline: Nov, 13th - what to tank until wotlk changes it all
We all know it’s coming, and we’re looking forward to it with a certain excitement. But what did it change by now, and what will be different when it’s finally here? I certainly have no clue what you are going to do, but here’s my take on the last couple tbc-weeks.
What to do as a tank
I’ve pretty much tanked everything I wanted to in TBC, except for Zul’Aman. I’m not at all into >10man raid content, it’s just too much of an organization-thing than it is a playing-a-game thing to me, so Zul’Aman is the only thing left. Lucky enough our plan includes that point. Do Kara until Patchday, and with the new talents go for Zul’Aman, for fun, with however much pain and wipes it will bring along.
Also I’m eager to gather the last three badge-items on the list (bracers, neck and ring). I got the breastplate a couple days ago and now my avoidance is solid enough to replace some of the other avoidance-stats with expertise and hit, to increase threat & dps a bit, which I think will be a big help in Zul’Aman.
What to do as a player
I only started in late April, so I’m kind of proud to have my warrior standing where it is, having seen all of T4 content and equipped for everything might coming up. There hasn’t been much time for twinking, so I’ll probably put in the effort and level my mage from 40 up to 70 with some guildies, just to have another character at hands for raiding - you never know, and why not give other tanks a chance?
Also I’d like to keep up the blogging, extending the compact-guide section and share some more thougts up here. As I’m pretty new and don’t really know what you guys are interested in, ideas are very welcome.
What to accomplish guild-wise
Due to the special development of our guild we don’t really have “a leader”, it’s just a bunch of people doing stuff. However I kind-of-took the role of raid leader, due to the simple fact that I’m fine with organizing and I knew the encounters, so I also kind-of-took the role of finding new members as to get to that solid 10-man-raid thingy. That translates, in our terms, to 11-13 members, so it stays assured that everyone can participate and, at the same time, everyone can decide not to take part without feeling like letting us down.
Other than that I’d love to see everyone gaining some more raid experience and decent gear, not only to be stronger for wotlk, but also to keep people happy with their characters and motivated for more.
Summary of it all, because we love lists
- Tank Zul’Aman with the guild
- Get the twink to 70
- Enable us for a 10-man-raid setup
- Integrate & create strong bonds with the new members, as to keep them
- keep up the blogging

Good luck with Zul’Aman. I don’t really like 25-mans all that much either, and ZA is a really tough challenge after Kara. I am hoping to hit Zul’jin before WotLK, we’re currently stuck on Hex-Lord.

I got to offtank ZA last night. And while I think it’s a great instance I’m somewhat concerned if we’ll be able to pull it off. Some of our members aren’t even really well-geared for Karazhan and while the new talents will improve DPS and such, they aren’t gonna make up for a lack of stamina and defensive abilities. We’ll find out if the 3.0 nerf will do it for us, but I’m not very optimistic. At least we’ll learn to handle tough progression raiding, hehe.

Sadly, I have not been tanking a whole late the last few months. Every couple of weeks i will run a kara and maybe joing a Pug Gruul or Magtheridon and there have been a couple of SSC TK pugs that I joined but not much. When the pre-LK expansion comes out I plan on geting back into 5 man content to get the new talens and mechanics worked out. Oddly enough there is one 5 man instance I have never been beyond the first boss in: The Arcatraz. I guess I will get that out of the way first and then proceed from there to revisit each of hte heroics and ZA.
