Haha, so funny. Rambling and good news and stuff.
Today comes a random compilation of thoughts rushing through my head. No structure, no insights, no new things to learn – just some talking about what’s going on in my World of Warcraft these days.
Public announcement: April 1st + PTR = lots of really, really obvious jokes. Here’s still waiting for a good one.
Now for some rambling.
Our guild has had some great progression on Naxx10 and I was really happy to see things working out that way. Only then there was a turning point. Just when we were approaching the point where we could put Naxx10 on “farm”, people decided to bring their alts instead. Decided not to put in any more effort.
So what happened was, after our ~3hour clear, we actually went back in time. Go back to start. Do not cash 100$. The next runs were harder. People would sign out from the raid on the very day, just a couple hours before start. People would log on at 7.10pm in Dalaran when the raid was supposed to start at 7.
It was like “we killed Kel’Thuzad, Naxx is done, we don’t care anymore and are gonna bring alts now”. Just this really isn’t fun for me. I am a pusher. I like being good at something. I like to max things out. As long as my main would still be able to pick up any upgrade in Naxx10 I would bring him. Alts? Probably on an extra-run, but main first. We’re just not at a level where we can afford to carry alts. We are at a level where we can clear the place in one night if people give their best and so I think that’s the right thing to do: Run the place 3-4 weeks with all we got, then bring alts to equip.
Just the rest of us seems to be quite a bit more casual than that. I posted be.imba to our guild forums the other day, suggesting that people should have a glance at where they stand. Some were upset: “It claims I did something wrong with my gear! How useless is that!”. C’mon already? Criticism for some is hard to take, I get that, but if an automated tool says “this enchant would be better” then what is the big deal about that? I wonder how things will work out when we progress into Ulduar. If the place (and I really hope so) gets hard and we have to point out mistakes I sense some serious drama.
Serious drama. I’m probably a tad too hardcore for the casualty going on in Subtle Irony these days. Our officer’s forum is running a serious discussion on this, we’ll see how that turns out.
Good news
Due to the slacking in our raids I stepped back and will not raid with our guild until we find a way that will not make me upset to begin with. So I found a nice little schedule that makes me enjoy the game again. I do the daily hero, the sons of hodir dailies for some cash and then I give my hunter some care. Two to three hours, then logoff and do some RL-stuff. I am having a blast with my hunter-alt. The BoA shoulders, axe and bow make it even easier as it already is to gorilladin your way to 80. I hit 60 yesterday.
This really works and yesterday I realized just how much our raid-slacking upset me: Finally the tanking sword would drop and they couldn’t resist teasing me in guild chat (Ymiron wouldn’t give me his piece, Naxx wouldn’t be good to me, so I’m still sporting a blue tanking weapon, it’s kind of an ongoing story of fail and disappointment there). And you know what? I didn’t care at all. I was just happy not to be there while they crawled through the place in 40 minutes per boss slow-motion, re-wiping as we did on the first attempts and all that stuff. Honestly, I’m beyond that point. I enjoy progression for the sake of beating it, not for the sake of repeating it. Now it gives me kicks to clear Naxx faster. To probably give the one or other achievement a shot. I’m done with progressing through Naxx10 and now it’s time to have fun there.
Raiding-wise I’m looking for 25 groups these days, I really want to see some of the fights with a little more action going on now that they are boring on 10man. I almost got a OS25 pug to try +1, but unfortunately they didn’t want to.
